petrusse skate park

I was very excited when my good friend Nigel, a keen skater and seen in the center of the group photo, asked me to paint him the Petrusse Skate Park. What a great idea! Why had I not though of this before…?

“Let’s do it”, was my enthusiastic reply, and I got to work. But not in the way Nigel had imagined.

Nigel was met by quite a surprise when he came back to me about a month later to see my sketches of the proposed view.

Instead of drawings, I revealed to him a paper prototype sculpture of the skate park I wanted to build in steel, gold lief and include LED lights.

“Let’s run with it. It’s awesome”, Nigel said with a big smile on his face. My paper prototype soon made its way to my invaluable metal smith, to start production.

One cool adjustment we made to my original design was to personalise it by adding Nigel and his two friends (Bob to the left of the group photo, and Paul to the right) pulling their trademark moves!

Nigel and I were so happy with the one meter finished piece of art, that we soon after both decided to invest in producing another 20 identical smaller 40cm Skateparks for the public to purchase. Please visit my shop if you are interested in one of these limited edition pieces.
